We accept puppy applications for our paid "waiting pool" all year round. Individuals in our waiting pool receive first opportunity to reserve/adopt our puppies/juveniles/adults when they become available. If our puppies are not reserved by prospective puppy parents in our waiting pool, we will then post them on our website as available and email our mailing list to alert them of our current availability.
Our mailing list is free to join, however our mailing list takes no precedence in our adoption process. That is, individuals on our mailing list do not receive "first choice" before prospective puppy parents from the general public (or waiting pool should they come forward as interested). It's simply a mailing list. In all cases, an application is always required from new applicants UNLESS you're a previous puppy parent, in which case, you're exempt.
Once puppies arrive, prospective puppy parents reserve "choice" (i.e. 1st pick, 2nd pick, etc.).They're then given access to our puppy parents section of our website, where we post regular photos and videos from birth, developmental milestones, updates, puppy care information, etc. We help our puppy parents make the right choice of puppy for them, based on the details provided on their Application and Waiting Pool Agreement.
Our puppies are usually ready to go to their new homes at approximately 8.5-9 weeks of age and older. If puppies are likely to be in the "lightweight" class at maturity, we usually keep them for at least 10 weeks of age, to give them more time to mature prior to vaccinaion and adoption. We require puppies to be at least 3lbs prior to vaccination. Puppies are usually always chosen prior to taking them home and are only available for meeting/adoption AFTER they are certified healthy (by licensed Veterinarian), vaccinated and deemed "ready to go" by our Veterinarian. Please see our Policies page for more information.
All puppies/dogs are placed on a written and duly signed contract/guarantee. All companion puppies are placed on a mandatory CKC Non-Breeding Agreement, Co-ownership form and spay/neuter contract. Puppy parents must purchase TLC Puppy food (Lifestages if adult) and NuVet Plus wafers prior to adoption. In order to maintain our Guarantee, puppy parents must continue to feed TLC puppy/dog food, supplement with NuVet Plus and maintain health insurance during the guarantee period. Puppy parents can specify the health insurance company of their choice and policy, however we start our puppies out with Trupanion. If puppy parents choose to maintain our two year health guarantee, one must supplement with NuJoint plus as from 6 months to 12 months of age, in addition to NuVet Plus during the entire guarantee period.
In addition to a CKC Non-Breeding Agreement and Co-ownership form, prospective puppy parents must sign our Pet Puppy Contract/Guarantee.
