Adoption Protocols/Procedures
- We are not a pet store, an amusement park, a zoo or a tourist attraction! We do not do "kennel tours". We do not have a kennel. Our dogs live in our home and we do not have "facilities". Due to the amount of inquiries we receive, our busy schedule and for disease prevention, visits are strictly limited to individuals seriously interested in a particular puppy/dog that is available (and not spoken for and ready to go) and only after we have reviewed an application and have had a phone conversation. In most cases, a deposit is required to hold your puppy/dog
- For disease prevention and for the health of our dogs/puppies, we do not accept any visitors when we have un-vaccinated puppies, pregnant mothers, or females in season (who are to be bred). To compensate for this, we have a separate website for our "puppy parents" where we update pictures and/or videos approximately every 7-10 days (as per our schedule allows), so that prospective owners can see their puppies grow. We also have a Care Guide, a puppy diary (where we post developmental milestones, updates, etc.) and other valuable care and training information to help you prepare for your puppy. Remember, we're looking after your puppy and are acting in their best interest!
- We maintain a paid waiting pool. Our waiting pool deposit is $500 ($200 is non-refundable).
- Our waiting pool is intended for individuals who want a puppy specifically from us and is not intended to be used as a "place holder" (i.e. getting on all breeder's waiting lists and taking the first puppy that becomes available). However, if one changes their mind and does not wish to remain on our list, $300 of the Waiting Pool deposit is refundable.
- Waiting Pool and Puppy Deposits will only be accepted after an application has been approved and there has been a successful phone conversation with the prospective owner.
- When prospective puppy parents come to pick up their puppies, they will have the opportunity to meet us, our dogs and ask questions. Prospective puppy parents reserve the right to decline the puppy and either put all the deposit toward a pup from the next litter(s) or if they choose they no longer want a puppy from us, they will receive all of their payments made back, minus $200.
- Individuals in our waiting pool receive first opportunity to adopt puppies/dogs that become available, prior to them being posted on our website as available. Individuals whom have paid the $500 Waiting Pool Deposit would then submit a $1000 Puppy Deposit once puppies are born and we have a puppy available.

- We do not have a deferred payment plan and the puppy must be paid for in full at the time of adoption. If we need to hold a puppy longer to facilitate payments, we can work with prospective puppy parents if we know at the time of reservation. Puppies should be ready to go at 8.5-9 weeks of age or later, at our discretion, as per our schedule, when our schedule allows. Puppies to be held until a future date (as a result of a prospective puppy parent's inability to pick up) will incur a surcharge fee of $12/day.
- Bedford Reg'd reserves the right to decline ownership to anyone for any reason at any stage in the adoption process. Submitting a deposit/payment does not guarantee one a "sale".
- We do not sell to backyard breeders, puppy mills, brokers, pet stores or large commercial breeders.
- Our pet puppies are placed on non-breeding agreements and spay/neuter contracts and will be registered to the breeder and owner. IF the puppy parent wishes for the puppy/dog to be transferred into their name, Bedford Reg'd will do so only after receiving adequate proof of spay/neuter and the puppy parent paying the CKC's fees (at member discounted pricing) in order to do so.
- We do not sell our puppies as gifts. Meaning, we do not sell our pups to put under the Christmas tree or for a person outside of one's household. If a family plans and agrees on a puppy prior to adoption and one wants to surprise their children, etc. that is different.
- We do not sell to “minors”
- Our puppies are not for resale! If you cannot keep your puppy/dog or any reason, they have to come back to Bedford Reg'd
- Shipping via air is possible to select homes, on a climate control carrier at the Buyer's expense. Delivery/transportation to the Toronto airport and home delivery or meeting location within the GTA is FREE of charge.
- "Pet Nanny" services (accompanied airline delivery) are available - pricing to be determined and contingent on location, etc.
- We accept email money transfer, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Pay Pal and Debit. We do not accept cheques/checks of any kind, for any reason and due to fraudulent bills, we prefer to not accept cash, however we will do so on an individual basis. There is a 3% service fee for credit card and PayPal payments and "cross-border" fees are at the expense of the Buyer.
